Veilig Thuis is the advisory and reporting centre for domestic violence or child abuse. We are there to help everyone that is affected by domestic violence or violence. Veilig Thuis works together with you to stop violence and create safety. We offer help and perspective and are there for people of all ages. You can also contact Veilig Thuis if you suspect domestic violence in your area.
Advice
If you need advice or help for yourself or someone else you can call Veilig Thuis on the free national helpline: 0800-2000.
You will hear a recorded message asking you the name of the place you or the person you are worried about live. After that, you are connected to a staff member in the right region.
The national helpline is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
Dutch language
If you don’t speak Dutch or have trouble expressing yourself in Dutch, please ensure that someone can assist you with the language. The staff members at Veilig Thuis can only speak to you in Dutch. You can always bring someone to appointments who can help you with the Dutch language.
Help
You can reach out to Veilig Thuis to ask questions and/or explain your situation. Our staff members are certified and expert care workers who will listen attentively to what you have to say, answer your questions and give you advice. With your approval and if necessary, the care worker can also assist you in finding the right professional help.
